Property Law in Greece
Construction in Greece is regulated by 2 basic groups of laws:
The group of laws regarding to the geographical zone which includes the cities,
and the group of laws regarding the ‘out of city plan’ zone.
The construction is supervised by the local Building Control Office, which is also responsible for the issue of the Building Permission.
At the issue of the Building Permission in the ‘out of city plans’ zone are involved also, the local Forest Control Office and the local office of the Greek Archeological Agency.
Local regulations may be quite different in some areas because of historical, geographical, or public interest reasons, so it is advisable to use a local expert before taking any action in relation to a property.
